‘Whistle Down the Wind’ charity performance raises a huge £6500
The Hungerford Rotary Club and The Community of Hungerford Theatre Company organised and staged an outstanding performance of ‘Whistle Down the Wind’ at the Arlington Arts Centre in Newbury.
A BIG thank-you to everyone who supported us in raising money for Mary Hare School for severely and profoundly deaf children and young people.
James Podger of Great Grooms and Chairman of The Hungerford Rotary Club, said, ‘The performance was magnificent and the money raised was simply humbling. We are delighted for The Mary Hare School.’
In seat ticket sales, raffle ticket sales, advertising revenue and donations via the bucket collections after each performance and a very generous single donation of £500 from a local business we raised a fantastic total of over £6,500.00! This figure may be doubled as we have applied to The Greenham Common charitable Trust who may well match this to make a total of £12,000! Watch this space.
So many people were necessary to make this event a worthwhile success of which you were one – Many many Thanks from all of the Rotary Club of Hungerford!
Remember if you missed the shows then there will be another opportunity to see it in February when it will be staged at the John O’Gaunt School.
