The Craven Hefer’ An oil on canvas primitive portrait of ‘the largest cow ever to live’ bred by Reverend William Carr on the Duke of Devonshire’s estate in Yorkshire. The animal was so large that her loose-box, which stands at Bolton Abbey, is twice the size of its neighbours. Circa 1811. Canvas size 44cms (15.5ins) x 84cms (29ins).
