Kashan, located in Central Persia is one of the major rug weaving centers. Kashan carpets have a unique style and have distinctive patterns. Rugs and carpets were woven in Kashan date back to 16th century. It was the primary production and trading center from where the rugs have exported to different parts of the world. From 1890 to 1930 the main source of Kashan wool was from Manchester UK. The wool was soft and has taken from Merino Sheep. This is an excellent example of an antique Kashan carpet.
