JOSEF LANGL (Austrian)
Langl was born in Dobrzan. In 1855 he moved to Vienna where he studied architecture and architectural painting. Between 1870 and 1892 he was a drawing teacher and served as a technical inspector for drawing lessons in Vienna and lower Austria, and then until 1915 created panoramic landscapes around Vienna and Dobrany, book illustrations, and designed lithographic templates for schools in the whole of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In addition he worked for the Journal of Fine Art and â€˜The Scaleâ€™ (mapping). For his achievements the City of Vienna awarded him honorary citizenship.
His work is represented in the Vienna History Museum and Military Museum.
