Ruth Mercier was a 19th century painter born in Switzerland to French parents. They were a family of great artistic talent. Ruth painted urban landscapes and flowers.

She exhibited her work from 1882-1915, receiving an honourable mention at the Salon des Artistes in 1885, and at the Exposition Universal a bronze medal in 1900.Exhibited in Great Britain at the London and Scottish Royal Academies. 52 works were also exhibited at the Walker Art Gallery. Ruth lived in Cannes in 1882, Paris in 1902 and London in 1905. She was very well connected with British aristocracy. Bibl: Benezit
