French Second Empire Daybed

A French Second Empire daybed decorated with beautiful carved gilt leaves, swans on the arms and turned reeded legs. The daybed has been reupholstered in a striking red and gold patterned Bernard Thorp fabric.

Second Empire style, also known as Napoleon III style, is a highly eclectic style of architecture and decorative arts, which uses elements of many different historical styles. It flourished during the reign of Emperor Napoleon III in France from 1852 to 1870.
