A scarce Irish Constabulary flitlock pistol by Rigby of Dublin.

A very good quality Irish Constabulary Pistol, .650 calibre, 9" barrel stamped W & J Rigby Dublin L-Y 9292. With stepped and signed lock with roller frizzen and ring-necked cock, full stocked with regulation brass mounts, fish-tail butt and swivel ramrod. This pistol is in extremely good almost unissued condition and still has the preiod armourer's shellac varnish on the barrel. Some handling marks and shrinkage visible on the stock. The pistol is Circa 1823 and is same as supplied for Police Constabulary and Customs. This is the actual pistol illustrated (Plate 7) (The stock mark foward of lock is identical) on page 23 of the David Back book on the history of Rigby.
