George Paice (1854-1925.) Bay Hunter, Circa 1920. Oil on board. A very fine oil painting on artist board of a bay hunter in a loose box. Paice exhibited at The Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street and elsewhere. Painter of portraits of dogs and horses.

George Paice 1854-1925 British.

George moved from London to Croydon in 1879. He is seen as a competent and prolific artist who painted landscapes, figures, still life and animals. He painted many small portraits of dogs and horses accurately in landscapes or loose boxes mostly signing their names. Paice exhibited at the Royal Academy (7), Royal Society of British Artists (4), Suttolk Street and elsewhere. George painted a number of large fine point to point scenes, one of which he painted for the officers of the Royal Scots Grays. Lady Margaret Cecil was also amongst his patrons. He had a considerable personal interest in racing and at his funeral his colours were carried on his coffin.
