Description: Signed oil on canvas laid to board.

Biography: Joseph Heard was born in 1799 in Egremont in Cumberland. His father was also named Joseph, he was a saddler by trade. His early influences came from a local portrait painter named John Clementson; he would almost certainly have known the Whitehaven artists Robert Salmon and Henry Collins.

Dimensions: 45cm x 59.5cm

Condition: Cleaned (some time ago) and had some retouching.
