Biography: Charles Whymper also known as Charles H Whymper was a British painter and illustrator who was born in London. He was the son of Josiah Wood Whymper, who was also an artist and engraver. Educated at the Royal Academy Schools he went on to exhibit at the Royal Academy; the Royal Society of British Artists; the New Gallery and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours. He also exhibited at the Fine Art Society, London.

Whymper was known for his animal and game bird paintings as well as his book illustrating.

Condition: In very good overall condition. Cleaned, varnished and presented in original frame.

Period: Late 19th century.
